CloudBreakingNews: Microsoft Office 365

"Microsoft Office 365 brings together cloud versions of our most trusted communications and collaboration products with the latest version of our desktop suite for businesses of all sizes."
Thus
Microsoft launches the home page of its newest announcement -
Microsoft Office365. Announced in a press release on October 19,
2010, Microsoft positions Office 365 as "the company's next
generation in cloud productivity that brings together Microsoft
Office, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online and Lync Online in an
always-up-to-date cloud service. Office 365 makes it easier for
millions more organizations to get and use Microsoft's
award-winning business productivity solutions via the cloud."
The
release goes on to quote Kurt DelBene, president of the Office
Division at Microsoft, saying that "Office 365 is the best of
everything we know about productivity, all in a single cloud
service. With Office 365, your local bakery can get
enterprise-caliber software and services for the first time, while
a multinational pharmaceutical company can reduce costs and more
easily stay current with the latest innovations. People can
focus on their business, while we and our partners take care of the
technology."
While
Office365 will not be available for purchase until next year,
Microsoft launched a beta program in 13 countries, which
CloudStrategies will certainly be participating in.
Microsoft customers should take note that Microsoft
has elected to bring Office, SharePoint, Exchange, and Lync (the
new name for Microsoft Office Communication Services) together
under the Office Division of Microsoft, rather than an Online
division.
CloudStrategies believes this signals Microsoft's
total commitment to comprehensive integration of cloud
services as their mainline offering. This brings more compelling
evidence that Microsoft is in earnest when they say they are ALL IN
to cloud computing.
