Quality of Service.
You may sometimes hear technology people talk about "QoS" or Quality of Service. They may also talk about "three nines" or "five nines" and you may not have known what they were referring to.
"Three nines" means you are assured that the cloud service you have subscribed to will be running and available 99.9% of the time. Microsoft Office 365 commits to three nines. Your telephone, internet, and other carrier services also commit to a specific Quality of Service measured as a committed percentage of uptime.
It is vital that someone other than your carrier or cloud service provider is monitoring and managing the Quality of Service coming from those providers to assure you that you are getting the level of availability that you are paying for.
